Apply for a secondary school place - September 2025

If your child's date of birth falls between 01/09/2013 and 31/08/2014, you will need to apply for a secondary school for September 2025

• Application period - 9 September 2024 until 31 October 2024
• If your application is received after 31 October 2024, it will reduce your chance of being offered your preferred school
• Apply online and you will receive an email confirmation, once your application has been received
• National Offer Day - 3 March 2025
• If you apply online, you will receive an email confirmation about your child's school place sooner than if you apply by paper application form

Apply for a Secondary School Place - September 2025

You can request a paper application by emailing school.admissions@sunderland.gov.uk or by contacting our Life and Family team.  Alternatively, your child's current primary school may have a copy of the application form.

We would strongly encourage parents/carers to view the admissions to secondary school booklet before completing their application. Secondary schools hold open evenings where parents/carers can visit with their children. Find out the dates of open evenings for prospective year 7 pupils.
