Open - the council's new procurement platform

Open (opens new window) is the new e-procurement platform developed by the North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) and the twelve North East local authorities.The new system will gradually replace the NEPO Portal and become the platform to find and compete for competitive opportunities.

Sunderland City Council will be the first local authority to implement Open in June 2024. Following a phased roll out over the coming year, all North East local authorities will be using Open to procure goods, works and services.

Suppliers are required to create an account on Open to access and bid for public sector opportunities issued by Sunderland City Council.

If you are interested in bidding for work with Sunderland City Council is it very important that you register on the Open System which is free to register for all suppliers and organisations, regardless of location.

When an organisation registers on the site they can select a number of categories of interest. Whenever a tender is advertised within a category of interest an email notification will then be issued to the organisations.

In addition to the email notifications suppliers and organisations can also search and express interest in tender opportunities which are published on the site by Sunderland City Council.
