How to apply for a pavement licence
The fee for applying for a new licence under the new process, is £500 and the consultation period is 10 working days (starting the day after a complete application is received) (but excluding public holidays)).
Existing Pavement licence holders can renew for a fee of £300.
The business can then place the proposed furniture such as tables and chairs within the area set out in the application.

Following this, applicants are encouraged to contact Sunderland City Council's Highways Section prior to making an application. Highways have been identified as one of the consultees and will make comments on any application received. Highways are available by email at [email protected] or by telephone on (0191) 561 8490; for advice.
