Spillages
We are responsible for the removal of spillages as reasonably practicable that will cause a risk to road users, such as:
- Oil or fuel
- Paint and other solvent-based materials
- Bodily fluids
- Debris (steel, sand, broken glass, cargo etc)
- Road traffic accidents
Spillages on the A1 and A194M should be reported to National Highways - Highways England on 0300 123 5000.
All spillages are classed as a high priority. If you are aware of a spillage or debris causing an obstruction, please report it as soon as possible to our Customer Services Team on (0191) 520 5550. Our Local Services Team will consider your report and update it with the relevant action to be taken.
