Dead animals

We are responsible for the removal of dead animals found on public roads, pavements, public open spaces and back alleyways.

If you see a dead animal on the A1, A19 or A194, you should contact National Highways - Highways England on 0300 123 5000.

If you see a dead farm animal or hooved animal, you should contact  DEFRA

When a domestic pet is removed, we use a microchip reader for identification and wherever possible, we will contact the owner to make arrangements for collection.

All dead animals are classed as high priority. If you need to report a dead animal, please do so as soon as possible to our Customer Service Team on (0191) 520 5550. Our Local Services Team will consider your report and update it with the relevant action to be taken.
