Memorial benches
Memorial benches are available across the city in a variety of locations including cemeteries, Sunderland seafront from South Bents to Roker, and various country parks. Some existing street and park benches may also be available for memorial sponsorship.
Memorial benches offer an opportunity to commemorate the life and spirit of a loved one in a place of solace and reflection.
Benches are offered as a sponsorship opportunity for a period of 10 years. In most cases, new hardwood benches replace existing public benches and provide a fitting tribute in memory of a loved one, complete with one stainless steel plaque. Please see example 1 image below.
In some cases, new benches are not possible, and we offer an alternative sponsorship of an existing bench refurbished at a much-reduced cost for a period of 5 years. Please see example 2 image below. Please note that existing bench designs vary.
