During the first lockdown I truly found myself and wrote a book for our family. It described my mad and beautiful upbringing where, no matter what life had to throw at us, we kept our spirit. Singing and dancing were order of the day and laughter was on tap throughout it all. I felt so very lucky! Growing up I had only ever wanted to be a ballerina, but as I was like a fairy elephant, I became a teacher instead. I.T. was my thing and so I left the classroom to advise other teachers and when Interactive Whiteboards came into the schools, I was in my element.
I am married, and we have a large family which is wonderful. Some of the children live overseas so we have been so very lucky to see different parts of the world in a special way. It is not surprising that the family love to travel as we have travelled ourselves. It must be 'the gypsy in my soul. In fact, we lived in the West Indies for a while and one of our children was born there. I have loved to do voluntary work in the past and I was a breastfeeding councillor for more than twenty years. Having always loved to socialise and dance and being forever ready to join in any sing -a-long, I would be happy to socialise more with people who are lonely and maybe teach a little ICT with anyone who needs help in that direction. It would give me a lot of pleasure to also teach bread making and to share my knowledge of modern languages. With the U3A I have already done some of this. While not professing to be a great expert in any of these things, I do have enough knowledge to help people who would like to know a bit more about these subjects.
