Into the last lap...

The widening works are about supporting current and future housing developments in the south and east of the city and part of a bigger scheme of necessary improvements.

These improvements have already included re-modelling and improving capacity at the A690 Durham Road and A19 junction.

Highways users should note the updated and finishing works schedule for Monday 28 November to Sunday 11 December includes:

Phase 1
Monday 28 November to Friday 2 December
• Eastbound closure on City Way between Monarch Way and Camberwell Way (including the junction)
• Traffic exiting Camberwell Way will be directed westbound only
• Traffic to be diverted via A690 / Silksworth Road / Silksworth Way, with advance information on A19 and A690
• All businesses open as usual

Phase 2
Monday 5 December to Friday 9 December
• Westbound closure on City Way between Camberwell Way and Monarch Way
• Traffic exiting Camberwell Way will be directed eastbound only
• Traffic to be diverted via Silksworth Way / Silksworth Road / A690, with advance information on Silksworth Way, Silksworth Road and Doxford Park Way
• All businesses open as usual

Phase 3
Sunday 4 December and Sunday 11 December
• Full closure of City Way between Monarch Way and Doxford Park Way
• Access from A19 to Monarch Way to be maintained
• Access to Camberwell Way (Oak Tree Farm and David Lloyd gym) via Glanville Road (bus-only restrictions suspended during the works).
