West Area

The West area of Sunderland includes Barnes, Pallion, Sandhill, Silksworth, St Anne's and St Chad's.

Sunderland Council has been hosting public consultations in the area since 2019, to understand what residents think of their neighbourhoods and how they need to change to improve people's lives.

Here's what happened at just one of our meetings:

Some of the main issues raised during the consultations included:

• Empty and derelict properties should be dealt with, as places uncared for is creating anti-social behaviour
• Improve play areas and parks
• Improve cleansing and the deep cleaning of drains
• Support for those struggling due to universal credit
