Leadership blog - 30.04.19

In this blog, the Leader talks about all of the activities to be found in Sunderland over the Easter break.

I hope everyone had a great Easter and enjoyed getting out and about in our wonderful city in the sunshine as well as enjoying all the things to see and do throughout the holidays.

This week, we have the local government elections which is a chance for us all to exercise our right to vote.

It's important that everyone registered to vote, votes, as decisions are made by those who turn out. Our ancestors died to ensure our democratic right to vote so please respect their sacrifice.

Beyond the elections, we will once again be staging the Sunderland City Runs (the usual 10K and half marathon plus a new 5K event) over the weekend of 11 and 12 May and it's been great to see so many runners of all levels and abilities doing their training throughout the city.

Moving into summer, we have some more big events to look forward to with the Spice Girls concert, the music events at Herrington Country Park in June and July and then the Sunderland Airshow.
