Apply for a grant

Grants are now available for restoration and enhancement works to eligible historic buildings within the Bishopwearmouth Townscape Heritage Scheme area.

Restoration works may include repairs to roofs, chimneys, leadwork, rainwater goods, windows and doors, and other historic features. The removal of paint or render and restoration of the stone or brickwork beneath would also be eligible for grant assistance.

Enhancement works may include the installation of traditional style shopfronts or signage, or the reinstatement of missing architectural details. Reinstatement grants will only be offered where the building is already in sound repair, or will be made so with a concurrent repair grant.
