Department for Transport Safer Roads Fund Application

Sunderland City Council has submitted a bid to the Department for Transport in response to an invitation from the government to seek further funding to tackle road safety on identified 'A-Roads'.

Sunderland's bid is for road safety improvements on the stretch of A1290 between A19 and A184 at Usworth.
 
The A1290 has strategic importance for Sunderland, connecting residential areas with locations identified for economic growth such the Sunderland Low Carbon Zone and Advanced Manufacturing Park adjacent Nissan.
