Section 58 notice
Section 58 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 allows the council to protect parts of the highway which have been subject to substantial road works (for example, reconstruction or resurfacing of the running surface) for a specified period of time.
The council provides advance notice of these restrictions so that any utility provider, developer or private contractor can plan and arrange to conduct their works in advance of the restriction coming into force. However, some necessary works such as leaks, or loss of power or service, are exempt from the restriction. This is subject to certain exemptions and regulations and we will not withhold consent without reason.
The section 58 notices lists the streets that are subject to, or will be subject to, a Section 58 restriction.
