Deborah Doyle

Reporter Deborah Doyle was born in Wolverhampton but for the majority of her life has lived and worked in Sunderland - a city that she loves. Here she tells us more about herself and her passion for wellness.

My work includes delivering wellness activities primarily for the over 50s including seated exercise, movement/dance, arts and crafts activities and Laughter Yoga.

I am also involved with Roker Life which is the community arm of Roker United Reformed Church where most of my activities take place and I run family activity days and tea parties from the church and its lovely garden.

Over the years I have gained so much value by volunteering and this in turn has been a great way of networking and meeting new people. This includes being part of an Opera "Miracle" playing a witch in an amateur production of Macbeth, singing in a choir on Wearmouth Bridge as part of the Tall Ships, and becoming an "Art Champion" which opened up a whole world of making art accessible to everyone....to name but a few things I have been involved in.

I love Sunderland for its friendly communities, rich heritage, culture and beautiful beaches. I am very excited to be part of this new venture and share amazing things that are happening in Sunderland for the over 50s.
