Council tax support and discounts consultation

We are asking residents across Sunderland for their views on two proposals: 

• Proposed changes to our Council Tax Support Scheme 
• Proposed changes to Council Tax discounts  

Council Tax Support is a scheme to help some people pay their council tax. The amount of support people get will depend on their income and personal situation. This year we are considering a change to the scheme for working aged people. The possible changes have no impact on the scheme for pensioners. 

The online consultation asks residents to look at our proposed approach to changes to this scheme, as well as feeding back views on alternative options.
