Cliffe Park Live will feature performances by the bands at Seaburn's Cliffe Park, with its picturesque white lighthouse, over the weekend of Friday 14 and Saturday 15 August.

One of the defining bands of the last three decades, Embrace headline Live at Cliffe Park on Friday 14 August as part of their huge 30th anniversary celebrations.

With three UK Number One albums, over two million records sold and a catalogue packed with era-defining hits including "Gravity", "All You Good Good People", "Ashes", "Nature's Law" and "Come Back To What You Know", Embrace have been described as 'one of the country's most powerful and emotional live bands'.

Thirty years on from the release of Moseley Shoals, one of their three top 5 albums, Ocean Colour Scene take to the stage at Cliffe Park on Saturday 15 August.

Known for their rip-roaring live shows, OCS remain one of the most successful - and most loved bands of the modern era. Having spent six years fine-tuning their sound, they lit up the Britpop party, with a run of nine successive Top 20 single's including the immortal 'The Riverboat Song'.

The latest announcements complement two unmissable, action packed weekends of live music in Keel Square already announced for August as part of Sunderland City Council's One Big Summer programme.

These will see an exciting line up including global dance icon Armand Van Helden, Love The 90s, GirlyPop, The Bootleg Beatles, Road to Nashville, Family Festival featuring K‑POP Live and George Michael tribute events, performing in the heart of Sunderland city centre, creating an unforgettable summer of music.

Kicking off in May with a community-led wraparound programme of family-friendly entertainment to tie in with BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend at Herrington Country Park, One Big Summer will continue with a vibrant line‑up of events across the whole summer.

Peter McIntyre, Executive Director of Economy and Place at Sunderland City Council, said: "We're delighted to be expanding One Big Summer to the seafront, with Embrace and Ocean Colour Scene at Cliffe Park joining the exciting programme already lined up for Keel Square over the summer.

"Building on our reputation as an events city, and offering everything from Britpop and dance to country and western and K‑POP, One Big Summer has something for everyone in Sunderland this summer."
