Planned System Maintenance - Limited Service

Sunderland City Council will be carrying out planned system maintenance from 12 noon on Friday 5th June until 7am on Tuesday 9th June. During this period, we will only be able to respond to urgent enquiries. If your enquiry is not urgent, please contact us before or after these times when full services will be available. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

Animals on Allotments

Certain animals may be kept on an allotment plot (such as bees or hens) all other animals, including horses and cockerels are not permitted to be kept on an allotment plot. 

The city has four dedicated sites which allow pigeon lofts to be erected, these are:

  • Cornhill Dock (Southwick)
  • Hollinhill Road (Concord)
  • Herrington Miners Welfare (Herrington)
  • Percy Terrace (Penshaw)

Please note that these sites are subject to additional animal welfare conditions to ensure the safety of both captive and wild birds.

If you are planning to bring a dog onto the allotment, please be a responsible owner and ensure it is kept under control, always on a leash, and that you clean up after it.

It is forbidden to use any building on the allotment garden for a dog kennel, or to leave any dog on an allotment plot overnight.
