Active Sunderland BIG 3K returning for 2025
More than 500 runners completed the Active Sunderland BIG 3K on Sunday 12 May, as part of a day of running events taking place in the city centre.
After the event sold out this year, the date has been confirmed for the event in 2025.
The family favourite will return to Sunderland on Sunday 11 May 2025, once again taking place on the same day as the Sunderland 10K and half marathon.
The BIG 3K gives runners of all ages and abilities the chance to take part in a large-scale running event and enjoy the lively atmosphere that comes with it.
Cllr Beth Jones, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Tourism at Sunderland City Council, said: "It was brilliant to see the popular Active Sunderland BIG 3K sell out this year, with runners coming together to get active, have fun, and soak up the atmosphere of the day. I'd like to say a big 'well done' to everyone who has completed a run.
"I know the city runs are hugely popular and its fantastic to see so many young people, families, and beginner runners coming together to run the BIG 3K. I'm delighted to confirm it will be back again in May next year."

The Active Sunderland BIG Bike Ride is the next event taking place on 14 July and has a brand new 5-mile beginner ride for 2024. Participants can choose to ride 5, 12, 20 or 38 miles setting off from the Beacon of Light taking in some beautiful scenery around the city's cycle network.
