St Chads CPMS

Sunderland City Council will be implementing the St Chads Community Parking Management Scheme (CPMS) in March 2021.

The main objectives of a CPMS are:

  •  Address parking problems
  •  Improve road safety for all highway users
  •  Improve access and parking for disabled people
  •  Give residents some priority in parking their cars as close as possible to their property

Only vehicles displaying any of the following are entitled to park within the zone:

  •  A valid parking permit
  •  A voucher / scratch card
  •  A valid blue badge

Any vehicle observed parking without displaying any of these may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice.

Permit applications

A new permit application system has been introduced from 1st July 2025.  If you have not applied for permits after this date, you will need to set up a new account to make your application(s).  Please use the link below.
When applying for standard permits you will be required to provide supporting documentation:

  • Proof of address - this year's council tax/water rates bill or a utility bill/bank statement dated within the last three months
  • V5C/motor insurance certificate for the vehicle

Applications for visitor permits/scratch cards will require proof of address.

Please note: if you purchase a permit after the commencement of the scheme year the permit will only be valid for the remaining months of that scheme year there are no pro rata payments available.

The permit scheme year for the St Chads CPMS is:

1 March - 28 February
