Area Committee Area Plans
Sunderland is a proud, welcoming city that continues to change for the better.
We are growing our economy, improving communities, and creating new opportunities for everyone.
To make sure that this change happens across the City, and in your neighbourhoods, each of our five Area Committees have an Area Plan. These show everyone what each Area Committee is doing to support their community. They focus on what matters most to residents and include:
- helping people and families cope with challenges like the cost of living
- improving health and wellbeing
- giving children the best start in life
- building skills that lead to good jobs
- protecting the environment and becoming carbon neutral by 2040
These plans follow our City-Wide themes to help Sunderland become:
- A Dynamic Smart City
- A Healthy Smart City
- A Vibrant Smart City
The Area Plans put local communities at the heart of everything we do and help us to build stronger, healthier and more resilient communities across the city. They have been written and developed in consultation with residents and partners.
